HUMANITARIAN INITIATIVE
Eight Waves invests in the lives of children, youth and families who live in under- resourced communities by working together, building the healthy support systems they need to thrive, and empowering them to create lasting change in their own lives and communities.
Mission
We envision a community where every child experiences a variety of positive and encouraging opportunities. These opportunities provide a sense of belonging and allow each child the ability to achieve his or her full potential both individually and as a member of the community.
Key
We know that encouraging a love of learning early on is key to improving mental health, well-being and literacy in America and ensuring our children's success in both school and life. That's why we offer a productive children's program to under-resourced children, families, and schools in Central Florida.
We build relationships by establishing trust, to support children and families through our eight initiatives, to empower them to create lasting change in their own lives and communities.
Reading Intervention
After school is the perfect time to integrate speaking, listening, reading, and writing—building students' competence in all four literacy skills. Students can choose lively, interactive, and fun activities that engage all facets of language communication.
Eight Waves has developed programs based on student interest and goals identified through student assessments. Our programs bring together students and community partners during one-on-one, small group, and whole class sessions to allow students to participate in various opportunities to fill in learning gaps and build confidence.
Reading Intervention
Personalized intervention that features reading buddies to emulate one-to-one tutoring and support.
Mentorship
Support, encouragement, and friendship to help students learn important life skills.
Life Experiences
Offering opportunities outside of the home environment to see all the beautiful things the world has to offer.
Birthday Parties
Celebrating children and making them feel special, even if they are unable to at home due to financial hardships.
Mom's Mentoring
Helping moms by providing resources, support, and a one-on-one connection.
Family Stability
Working with families to find the resources they need so that they are able to thrive.
Books for Babies
Bringing books to children and families to begin language development at the earliest age possible.
Hygiene Help
Connecting with the community and schools to fill backpacks with hygiene needs.
